London, Feb 15 (ANI): Sales of Whitney Houston’s songs have soared since the singer’s untimely death on Saturday, and one of the people to unexpectedly gain from it is Dolly Parton.
The iconic country singer wrote ‘I Will Always Love You’ back in 1973, before Houston recorded it for ‘The Bodyguard’ nearly two decades later.
As Parton, 66, owns the song, she stands to earn a significant amount of money as the No 1 hit is expected to top the iTunes singles chart, the Daily Mail reported.
“When Whitney did it, I got all the money for the publishing and for the writing, and I bought a lot of cheap wigs,” the Daily Mail quoted Parton as saying last month in an interview on CNN with Anderson Cooper.
The legendary song, which shot to No 1 across the globe, was sung by Jennifer Hudson as a tribute during the 54th Grammy Awards on Sunday. Hudson, 30, had actually performed the song in front of Houston at The BET (Black Entertainment Television) Honors in 2010.
According to E! Online, Sony Music owns the rights to Houston’s back catalogue, including ‘The Bodyguard’ soundtrack, and is now planning a rigorous campaign to elevate her to the top of the charts again. The label did the same thing when Michael Jackson died, posthumously selling more than 35 million albums worldwide. However, unlike the ‘Bad’ star - who died in June 2009 - Houston did not pen her biggest hits nor have a share of the publishing.

London, Feb 15 (ANI): Irina Shayk enjoyed her share of the spotlight as she handed over the reins of Sports Illustrated to Kate Upton as this year’s cover girl.
The 26-year-old Russian beauty strutted through the streets of New York in a tight orange dress that showed off her stunning curves, the Daily Mail reported. She posed outside The Late Show with David Letterman, where the Sports Illustrated models gathered to unveil the 19-year-old as this year's cover star.
Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo’s ladylove teamed her bright frock with maroon platform heels and a black fur coat. She added jaw-dropping emerald earrings and a red cocktail ring to complete the colourful outfit.
Shayk sizzled on the cover of last year’s coveted swimsuit issue, but had handed over the crown to Upton, whose cover was unveiled on an enormous billboard in Times Square. She was joined by a host of fellow Sports Illustrated beauties including Alyssa Miller, Izabel Goulart, Meredith Ariel and Jessica Gomes.
